The Energy CFO® was established in 2013 to help businesses accelerate their growth and take them to the next level by providing access to experienced industry CFO (Chief Financial Officer) leadership that is not typically available to early and middle-market companies and their investors. Very quickly, our founder saw a need for the firm to expand its cfo shared services to include Fractional CFO Services, Part Time CFO, Interim CFO Services, and Virtual CFO services that essentially wrap a company’s accounting service providers.
In 2015, The Energy CFO began diversifying into life sciences, technology, and engineering-related industries. Since then, we have worked for executives running regenerative medicine, joint develop tissue and stem cell manufacturing, medical devices, electrical engineering firms, chemicals (Methanol fuel), and various technology businesses. Today our clients include a mix of small and large firms. We have learned a lot throughout our journey. We discovered that our knowledge, skills, and experiences are extremely valuable to companies in other sectors and that we enjoy learning about new industries. As a result, we created The Healthcare CFO, a new life science and healthcare division, in the summer of 2019.

The Energy CFO® is a majority woman owned business. Our minority co-owner is a Hispanic bilingual CFO. We are a diverse and inclusive organization. We have a very experienced workforce who prefer to work as consultants and enjoy fractional cfo assignments.
Our firm was established in 2013 by an experienced energy chief financial officer, Paula Waggoner-Aguilar, who had moved from Houston to San Antonio to work in the Eagle Ford for a Billionaire. Paula started working in the oil business in the 1990's in the oil field service equipment, petroleum products, power generation including renewable energy, and natural gas markets in Latin America.
The Energy CFO is one of a small number of women-owned firms with a niche in the energy business. We are proud to work in the energy industry and enjoy serving the private companies that make up the back bone of the industry. ur mission is to help energy entrepreneurs succeed! And we fully support efforts to transition the energy business to zero net emissions world.

We Work In Texas and the USA
The Energy CFO works for owners, investors in, and CEOs of petroleum (oil, gas, LNG), renewable energy, energy storage, energy services (oilfield, pipeline, utilities, energy tech, engineering, and construction), chemicals (Methanol), and manufacturing companies in cities throughout Texas and across the United States. All of our outsourced cfo services are designed to be virtual cfo services. In April of 2022, we reinstituted our hybrid cfo service for clients who are interested. What that means is we can do travel to your offices, spend time working in the field, and physically attend boards and other important meetings. Hybrid cfo services are ideal for companies with operations in the Permian or other US energy basins. The Energy CFO is headquartered in San Antonio, Texas. Our CFO team is made up a remote finance and accounting workforce based in cities across Texas. We have been providing virtual cfo services to clients since late 2017.

The Energy CFO owners give back 10% of their cfo time and/or donate annually in support of people, projects, causes, innovation, and organizations in the business communities where we work.
